youve got all the friends you need;

hello people :D i'm back from hongkong and i have one word to describe it: grey. it was fun though, all the shopping and such. kind of reminded me of shanghai when i lived there. so here's a quick rundown of what we did these 5 days (:

day 1: it was free and easy, went up to The Peak to get a view of hongkong, took lots of pictures :D it's pretty cool that such a small island has mountains. we also went around to various buildings of notable interest and stanley street where we bought some of my brother's stuff and i got bunny ears! :D hahaha.

day 2: we went to macau, it was smaller than hongkong but it had an abundance of casinos. headed to The Venitian at Four Seasons Hotel and had a gondola ride where our gondalier was actually italian and he had a great voice! which explains why he has a CD. it's cool manzxz :D we also visited the macau tower, home to the world's highest bungee jump, from the 61st storey. we actually watched a guy jump :O then came a dinner of awesome portuguese food and a visit to the Ruins Of St. Paul Cathedral. we got egg tarts which did prove my theory that Portuguese egg tarts taste better in a country of portuguese influence :D

day 3: lantau island and tai o fishing village were the next places we headed. saw the giant bronze buddha, and got an insight to rural life. it was great to escape the hussle and bussle of city life and see some blue-er skies for once (: my favourite thing was the boat ride out to the open seas through the mountains. really reminded me of new zealand in some ways (:

day 4: we went to the world famous Ocean Park for a good 5 - 6 hours. saw marine life such as jellyfishes, sturgeons, seals sand not-so-marine life such as pandas (: the Mine Train ride there totally hurt my back though. yeouch. we also watched a show with dolphins and sea lions being cool with all their tricks. typical, but always a crowd-pleaser. then we shopped till we dropped until about 12:30am at temple street where i got loads of awesome stuff such as ben romans-like shades, a necklace and a belt.

day 5: did some last minute shopping and browsing, then had to head to the airport. flight got delayed by an hour, but we got promoted to business class! the first time i have ridden business class since i was 3 (: watched wall-e and mamma mia. wall-e is a freaking sweet movie and mamma mia was pretty cute. though pierce brosnon really sounds weird when he sings lol.

i think the thing i'll take away from this trip is the food and the shopping mostly, but i did like the view out there. pity about the smog though D: it was fun to room with my brother though. yay for vacation (: i'm sad i had to leave and come back to homework, but in the company of my guitar and my friends, it's really okay (:
