HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAYS TO THE MADDEN TWINS - obviously, joel and benji! (27 march) AND TO SHEN-NEN AND MY GRANDMA :D HEEH. (28 march) AWESOME-NESS. oooh i've decided to review pretty. odd. even though i don't have the cd yet. HMPHHHH HMV. toods! D: oh well. getting it on wednesday

well, when panic started dressing funny, i have to admit i got a little skeptical about the album. BUT THEY PROVED ME WRONG. so wrong. i love this new album! (: so what if panic removed the exclaimation point. they've changes. it's true. but perhaps for the better (: okay here it goes:
track 1: We're So Starving - ever since i heard this song on their myspace (the rough version), i knew this song was destined for greatness. and it really is an awesome first track. it's a reassurance of sorts. like: you don't have to worry cause we're still the same band. and it slots in seamlessly into the beginning of nine in the afternoon (track 2). quite fast paced :D oh, how's it's been so long we're so sorry we've been gone we were busy writing songs for you.
track 2: Nine In The Afternoon - everyone knows this song i'm sure (: when i first heard in from their live in leeds in september last year, i thought it was a fun change. they changed the lyrics in this one, but it's great all the same. and the video is just too funny :3 hahaha. very quirky and the instrumental at the back just shows panic's versatility (: cause it's nine in the afternoon, your eyes are the size of the moon, you could cause you can so you do, feeling so good just the way that we do when it's nine in the afternoon.
track 3: She's A Handsome Woman - hahaha the song name is funny too. hahaha. but it's really nice. when i hear the distorted guitar riff in front, it just makes me smile :D and that catchy: go onnnnnn~ with ryan and brendon singing. HOT-NESS :D go on grab your hat and fetch your camera; go on film the world before it happens.
track 4: Do You Know What I'm Seeing - it's acoustic-y, and soft. like an acoustic marshmallow guitar :3 hahaha. this song makes me feel like floating even though they have stuff like: it never gave a damn about me. hah. clouds are singing a song, just like they do (:
track 5: That Green Gentleman (Things Have Changed) - this song never fails to get me smiling like a mad woman. heh. its piano, horns, guitar and dings blend perfectly. it gets me in a good mood. makes me super uber positive :D ryan ross' guitar skills are super admirable. HE'S ANOTHER GUITAR HERO :D this album has me convinced. things have changed for me but that's okay, i feel the same. things have changed for me, but that's okay, i'm on my way. things are shaping up to be pretty odd. little deaths in musical beds.
track 6: I Have Friends In Holy Spaces - ukelele! :P one of the two songs bden wrote on the album! this song sounds so old school especially the recording quality. it's like something you'll hear on the radio like 50 plus years ago! but i wish it was longer! only 1 minute and 56 seconds long and i wish i could hear more of brendon's writing cause he makes old school a lot more awesome than it already is :D well that all depends what you qualify as friends.
track 7: Northern Downpour - ONE OF MY PERSONAL FAVOURITES. it's one of those songs that you sort of fall in love with immediately and want to play it immediately (: very soft and acoustic, with blends of electric and piano. very sweet and rather senseless actually. hahaha. but really too soothing to be avoided (: and it's also my very first panic song on guitar other than the into for i write sins. haha. YAY FOR NORTHERN DOWNPOUR. brendon and ryan singing together is love. through playful lips of yarn, that fragile capricorn, i missed your skin when you were east. you clicked your heels and wished for me.
track 8: When The Day Met The Night - i first heard this song live too, when it was still called Middle Of Summer. but really i memorised the song straight away. it was way too too too addictive. hahaha. i love the new sound to this song though cause it sounds way bigger on the album. i love the new guitar riff ryan threw in. haha. the melody was changed around a bit, but it made brendon sound so much better than he already sounded. yeah. awesome track. do listen to it. or i'll whack you. HEEEH :D when the moon fell in love with the sun, all was golden in the sky. all was golden when the day met the night. summerrrr~
track 9: Pas De Cheval - a step in which the dancer hops on one foot and paws the ground with the other. LOL. okay it's just an up-tempo song. with a bit of country influence i feel. give your feet a chance, they'll do all the thinking. hahaha. it's the greatest thing to ever have happened, but you'll never know until you're there. and the guitar solo doesn't hurt either :D
track 10: The Piano Knows Something I Don't - this is a pretty dramatic song. brendon starts off soft and sad, violins and such. slowly, it progressing into this happy brass number. it's really jazzy and full of energy but yet not really. then it progressing back into the sad piece at the start of the song and ends off from there. it's quite like a story to me, like sort of a document of a person's train of thought. she's the smoke she's dancing fancy pirouettes.
track 11: Behind The Sea - ryan ross solo track. need i say more? his voice is like heaven in sound form. heavy bass, acoustic. behind the sea is light and airy, arpeggiated with mellow riffs - this song brings me back to beatles and makes me picture an image of 1962. hahaha. maybe it's because ryan's voice somehow reminds me of john lennon's. the breakdown is hilarious too: legs of wooden waves, waves of wooden legs, waves of wooden legs. i bet you can't say all of that 5 times fast without slipping up! you'll probably end up saying: laves of wooden legs. hahaha. The men all played along to marching drums and boy did they have fun behind the sea they sang so our matching legs are marching clocks and we're all too small to talk to God.
track 12: Folkin' Around - this song is pretty much the most country-folk on the album, true to the title. but yet i love it so much. this is ther only other song bden wrote on this album. and it's too good. he should really write more (: i love this song. too addictive to be true! :D heeeh. it's so sad that both his songs are about a former love! poor guy ): awww. allow me to exaggerate a memory or two where summer's lasted longer than longer than we do. then i'm putting out the lantern; find your own way back home. again, this song is 1 minute 55 seconds long. BRENDON WRITE LONGER SONGS SO I CAN APPRECIATE YOU WRITING MORE! lol.
track 13: She Had The World - sounds like something you'd put in a music box really. i'd put it in a music box (: reminds of a book i read just last month: the speed of the dark by alex shearer. like the human statue dancer on that music box :3 i don't love you i'm just passing the time. you could love me if i knew how to lie. but who could love me i am out of my mind. throwing a line out to sea. to see if i can catch a dream. i love this song. gorgeous pictures in my head. she said she won the world at a carnival. i'd like to meet someone just like this girl just to see what it's like. heh (:
track 14: From A Mountain In The Middle Of The Cabins - from a cabin in the middle of the mountains is where they wrote this album (: heeeh. sounds so carnival and like something i might hear at the start of toy story. hahaha. if you're goin', then go. go go go. watch love, get strangled by a kite's cold strings. I LOVE THE WHISTLING! it's so cute and comical.
track 15: Mad As Rabbits - one of my favourites off the album, ending off the album with a BANG. come save me from walking off a window sill, or i'll sleep in the rain. i really like this song. and ryan's vocals sound so perfect with brendon like they were born for this song. he took the days for pageants, became as mad as rabbits, with bushels of bad habits. it's a story of a few people, in true beatles style but with their own unique twist. we must reinvent love.
this is overall, an awesome album. no matter how bad i though it would turn out, it was pretty damn great. i'm just busting to go buy it :D ILY PANIC (: go get it!
